Clinical Validation and Patient Involvement
At OCUWELL, we prioritise patient involvement and feedback in our device development. Our device concept was born from discussions with patients and clinicians.
Throughout the development stages, we conducted clinical trials with patients in Sankara Nethralaya Hospital, India (23 patients), Tilganga Eye Institute, Nepal (19 patients), and ElNour Eye Clinic in Alexandria, Egypt (49 patients) and we found no statistically significant differences between OCUWELL’s results and the results of the current gold standard, the Pentacam.
Our device was also independently assessed by 5 clinicians in the UK including optometrists and ophthalmologists, gathering valuable insights to refine our technology design.
These clinical evaluations confirmed the urgent need for our innovation. Clinicians expressed their amazement at the high-quality topography maps produced by such a compact device. The image shows an early prototype, which has evolved significantly since then.
